Vegetable violence

I received an email today saying that Youth Farm will no longer be able to have a regular drop-off of free fruits and vegetables because at the last two places that hosted the drop-offs, people started fights over free fruits and vegetables.  Part of me wants to make smart-ass jokes about vegetable violence and the other part laments that people are so desperate for food or so rude and unrelenting in getting their own way that unsellable produce, on the edge of spoiling, is a cause for fist fights.
